Female activists in Mexico said “I do” to trees in a mass wedding ceremony held to raise awareness of illegal logging in the country.
The ceremony was held in San Jacinto Amilpas, Oaxaca state, where deforestation has been particularly high due to illegal logging, according to Metro.
The women donned white dresses and were photographed kissing the trees and throwing a bouquet like in a traditional wedding.
The marriage was symbolic and not legally binding, as trees cannot consent to marital union.
