A contractor in Century City, Los Angeles, was prevented from entering a unit in a condo complex he was hired to do work on by a woman questioning why he was there, according to Eyewitness News.
The situation escalated, and the woman threw her coffee at him as he taped the encounter on this phone. He’s now pressing charges.
Miguel Sanchez of AMC Construction had been hired to do a repair job for a tenant in the condo complex when he was stopped by the woman, identified as Rhonda Polon, who lived in the same complex.
The video shows Sanchez attempting to explain that he and his co-worker were hired by a tenant, and showed Polon the keys they had been given to enter, but she continued to stand in their way, preventing them from entering.
The argument became heated and Polon threw her coffee on Sanchez—he says on his face— yelling, “Get out of my face!”
Sanchez called Polon a racist in the video and his lawyer told Eyewitness News he believed the attack was a hate crime.
Polon has since apologized for throwing coffee and said she felt harassed by Sanchez at the time.
The video shows Sanchez's side of the argument and catches Polon throwing her coffee on him:
