Välinge Innovation AB, based in Viken, Sweden, issued a statement of support for Ukraine after the Russian invasion, and said it will stop all business activities and sales toward the Russian and Belarusian markets.
“Välinge will no longer send any products, 5G tongues, machines nor give any support to sites located in those countries [Russian and Belarus],” the company stated.
Russia’s ongoing invasion of Ukraine began Feb. 24. Välinge also stated that it supports sanctions against Russia and Belarus that have been implemented by Sweden and the European Union since the invasion.
“Välinge is investigating how to best support the Ukrainian people in this situation,” the company stated. “As our first step, we have made donations to the International Red Cross and UNHCR.
“We also know many of the Russian and Belarusian people do not support the madness the leader in the Kremlin is responsible for, but we trust the good forces in the free world will work together and support each other in this difficult situation,” Välinge added.
Steven Skutelsky, the managing partner of PID Floors in New York City, who was born in Ukraine and immigrated to the U.S. in the 1980s, also issued a statement of support for the country amid the war.
“I look around and see my father and family members broken, with deep sadness and disbelief that something like this could happen,” Skutelsky stated. “My wife has family today in Ukraine, ready for whatever comes their way, knowing that there is no way out now. Bravely they are somehow forcing themselves to only look forward and hope for peace.”
PID Floors is mobilizing efforts to provide support, clothing and food to Ukrainians, and shared links for places where donations could be made, including Save The Children, Red Cross and UNICEF USA.
“Time and time again history has shown us the good will win,” added Skutelsky, “and the strength of resolve of ordinary people fighting for what’s right can and will triumph over seemingly unstoppable forces.”
