A Cincinnati man was indicted on three felony counts of vandalism and one count of criminal damaging or endangering for repeatedly throwing nails on roadways since 2021, according to Fox19.
The nails were 5/8-inch concrete tack strip nails. Darnell Anthony Dyson, 44, of Cincinnati, became a suspect "because he worked in the flooring business and had been buying excessive amounts of the same nails found in the roadways," Fox19 reported.
In March, police got a case of the nails from a store Dyson frequented, colored them with a luminescent spray varnish visible only under UV light, the returned the nails to the store, where Dyson purchased them on March 21. Police then found those nails on roads in three locations, as well as in Dyson's vehicle.
If convicted, Dyson faces up to three years in prison and the forfeiture of his vehicle.
