Duchateau (San Diego) announced the appointment of Sergio Alvarez as CEO. Alvarez has served as the company’s COO for the past year. He assumed the CEO role July 6.
“Sergio is unique in his ability to translate our vision and strategy into world-class execution, bringing together teams and efficiencies to drive results,” Duchateau co-founder Benjamin Buzali said in a statement. “He understands our brand differentiators, and will continue to move the company forward with the speed required to capitalize on the opportunities in front of us.”
Alvarez succeeds Duchateau co-founder Misael Tagle in the role of CEO. Tagle and Buzali will both assume the title of founder and co-chairman and continue on in advisory roles at the company.
“Benjamin Buzali and I are confident Sergio is the right person to continue our strong growth,” Tagle stated.
Prior to Duchateau, Alvarez served as COO of a biotech company; prior to that, he was CEO of a premium chocolate bar maker. Alvarez also has 15 years of experience working in various capacities at Hewlett Packard.
“I am incredibly excited to assume this new role and for the exciting future of the company,” stated Alvarez, who is based in San Diego. “We have an exceptionally talented team at Duchateau that is focused on taking decisive actions to transform the business. We are continuing to innovate our product lines in new and creative ways and are unlocking future growth opportunities.”
