Lumber Liquidators Bamboo Settlement Payments Pushed Back Again

Some customers awaiting settlement payments from a class-action lawsuit involving Lumber Liquidators’ Morning Star Strand Bamboo will have to wait a little longer. The scheduled mailing date for checks and vouchers for Level 1 and Level 2 claims has been pushed back again, this time to the end of August, according to the website of the settlement administrator, CPT Group Inc.

In the settlement, which was finalized in October 2020, Lumber Liquidators agreed to pay $14 million in cash and $14 million in vouchers to customers who purchased Morning Star Strand Bamboo between Jan. 1, 2012 and March 15, 2019. Payments were reportedly due to customers within 60 days of the filing. However, in April, WSOC-TV reported the settlement site stated the payment date moved to July 2021. CPT Group Inc. is tasked with validating claims and mailing settlement checks and vouchers, according to the October 2020 court order.

CPT Group’s site, which notes it was updated June 25, states class members who submitted valid Level 1 and/or Level 2 claims can now expect their settlement checks and vouchers to be mailed by the end of August.

Plaintiffs in the lawsuit claimed the Morning Star Strand Bamboo line was defective. Lumber Liquidators denied such claims but agreed to settle in 2019.
