President Trump’s executive order to encourage the use of American-made products in federally financed infrastructure projects includes U.S. lumber in its definition of “manufactured products.”
The order expands on Trump’s 2017 order for federal agencies to purchase and use American goods “to the greatest extent practicable” in infrastructure projects.
"This (executive order) basically makes clear that we extend the coverage for 'Buy American,' not just to things like iron and steel and aluminum, but also to cement and other manufactured products,” White House Office of Trade and Manufacturing Policy Director Peter Navarro told reporters following the signing of the order, according to CNN.
The Forest Landowners Association praised the order, stating it would “serve as a mechanism to revitalize rural communities and establish a platform for sustaining our national forests.”
