Have you ever sanded a floor and thought, “This is taking forever”? Or did it feel like the stain was taking too long to dry? When Frank Nagy, owner of Highland Park, N.J.-based European Quality Hardwood and Tile Flooring, is presented with these issues, he utilizes his DIY ingenuity to solve them.
To save time on sanding, Nagy attached two Bona Power Drives together, allowing him to do double the work in half the time. “It’s very efficient; you can save a lot of time plus money,” Nagy says. He secured the Power Drives with two square steel signposts attached to the weights and each shaft.
Nagy used to use a single hairdryer to speed up the stain drying process on his jobs, but that still wasn’t fast enough for him. To dry the floor even quicker, Nagy fixed five hairdryers to a dolly with a broomstick handle fastened on the end. This invention allows Nagy to glide the hairdryers across the floor with quintupled drying power.
Nagy admits his setup may not look the most professional, but he says customers are impressed with his unique inventions and appreciate the ability to get the job done in half the time. Nagy says he’s probably made hundreds of inventions to make his job as a sander and installer easier over the years, and he hopes other pros see his creations and are inspired to build their own gadgets.
