John James of All American Hardwood Floors in Darien, Ill., had a job that turned out to reveal (so to speak) a huge surprise for everyone involved. His customer decided to have the wood floors in her husband's home office refinished while he was away on a business trip. When James arrived at the job and began sanding, he approached the cold air return on the floor and decided to remove it. Oddly, inside was a large black garbage bag. He took it downstairs and explained where he had found it to the customer, who said there couldn't be anything in the vents because they had just been cleaned. She turned the bag upside down, and tumbling to the floor were size 13 pumps, XXL-sized lingerie, makeup and wigs. "She was totally humiliated that she found out her husband used it to play dress-up," James recalls. "The best part of the story is that she made him pay us in person, because now we knew his dirty little secret."
