Tales From the Front: Gray Compound, White Carpeting and a Phantom Feline

Am26 Tale Cat

Pete Lethbridge, of Northampton, U.K.-based Northants Timber Floors, had a job with an unexpected visitor:

I once had to use leveling compound in a small hall about 1 inch deep. As I was finishing off in the doorway, a cat ran past me. It went right through the leveling compound—and straight up the white carpeted staircase. I would have normally been able to leave at that point, but given the white carpet situation, I had to wait for the leveling compound to dry, and then I cleaned the gray footprints off every step and the landing. When the customer returned, I told him what had happened with his cat. He said, ‘I don’t have a cat!’ FFS!
