This paranormal tale comes from Brandon Dudek of Vivid Hardwood Flooring LLC in Tecumseh, Mich.:
“In early October 2015 we started a 2,500-square-foot Brazilian cherry refinish job, and within a week we began to experience machine failure. The edger had electrical issues, then the dust containment. The plugs started to melt right into the outlets. Then the big machine started to take a hit, as well. Finally, going into week three with a new big machine, things were moving along but I began to feel heavy—almost like I was holding another 100 pounds.
Then one day I heard what sounded like a chair being dragged upstairs. No one was in the house but me. I didn’t know how to approach the clients, but when I noticed freshly burnt sage in the garage, that was my opportunity. The client said the original house burned; they thought someone perished in the fire. The client said she, too, experienced unexplained events, like voices in the kitchen coming from behind her.
After that, we just wanted to finish the job. The day we were applying finish coats is when things got crazier. We unlocked the lower level door so we could walk back in after the finish was dry. When we went to get in, though, the door was locked. It was a one-way interior deadbolt that could only lock or unlock from the inside. This did not make any sense, but we shrugged it off and managed to get back in. What we discovered still gives me the creeps—we found chalky footprints of bare feet on the kitchen floor we had just coated. The footprints started and then just stopped in the most random place in the kitchen. No one, I mean no one could have left those prints but whatever was in the house. This picture was taken the moment I noticed the footprints.”
