Wood floor pro Eric Herman of State of the Art Wood Floor Gallery in New York City once saved the day for racquetball courts by going back to the job at night. As he tells it:
“We did a bunch of racquetball courts for a YMCA, and my guys painted the serve boxes on the wrong side. They were having the big ribbon-cutting ceremony the next day, and all these members went in and saw the courts and went nuts. My buddy called me, and I went back in at midnight for a stealth mission: I palm-sanded the lines and moved them so they were correct. I was there the next day and overheard a bunch of the guys complaining. I told them, ‘It looks correct to me, and I’ve been playing racquetball since I was a kid.’ They went in and all scratched their heads and were beyond confused—and quite happy.”
