“The bigger, the better” has been a growing trend when it comes to floorboards in Switzerland, says Luan Ferrer of Ferrer Floors AG, a flooring dealer in Reinach, Switzerland. For the past two years, the company has seen an uptick in wide oak boards measuring 9.5 feet in length. Most of this flooring is installed in homes, as opposed to apartments, as a wave of young Swiss have begun investing in their own houses, Ferrer says. The most popular color is natural smoked with an oil finish. “It gives you a chic look,” Ferrer adds.
