New homes in the Hudson Valley are looking a bit “Scandinavian” as homeowners are adding natural, light wood floors in their homes, says Caio Raposo, co-owner of Westchester, N.Y.-based HQ Flooring and Renovations LLC. He says customers are opting for a “Scandinavian look” by choosing lighter or natural stains that preserve the raw look of the wood. More specifically, the company is installing wide white oak planks. Raposo says white oak has been popular because it complements this style well and doesn’t have the pinkish pigments that red oak does.
