LED curing with Vesting hardwax oil dramatically accelerates floor finishing by allowing instant drying between color applications, enabling Tampa-based Integrity Floors to complete a custom black-and-white engineered oak floor in just two weeks instead of several.

  • LED curing with Vesting hardwax oil enables instant drying between color layers, significantly reducing project timelines
  • A 700-square-foot custom black-and-white floor was completed in just over two weeks using LED curing technology
  • The innovative process involved taping off squares, applying dark color first with instant LED curing, then taping and applying white finish
  • The project reused engineered white oak scraps from previous jobs that would have otherwise been discarded
  • LED curing saves both time and money by eliminating extended drying periods between color applications

A Florida residence now has a floor that steals the spotlight from the big-ticket artwork on the walls. Tampa-based Integrity Floors completed the custom black-and-white beauty in just over two weeks—a process that was greatly expedited thanks to the speedy curing of Vesting LED hardwax oil, Integrity owner Corey Cathcart says. “We taped off every line for every square, did the dark color first, and it was cured instantly with the LED light. Then we taped off those edges and did the white,” he says. “LED curing allowed us to speed up the dry times in between colors, which saved time and money.”

The 700-square-foot floor consisted entirely of scraps of Allegheny Mountain engineered white oak that was left over from previous jobs. “It was cool that we reused something that would have been in the trash can,” Cathcart says. In his shop, he and three of his crew hand-cut each piece of the panels with a table saw sled and parquet jig, then glued them together with a slip tongue. They were pleasantly surprised when they had enough scraps of the correct size to create all of the panels.

The stunning floor adorns one of the home’s entryways that the celebrity owners turned into their private art gallery. Who are the celebrities? Due to a non-disclosure agreement, we’ll never know, but at least we can admire their gorgeous wood floor.
