Helpful Tips to Avoid Trouble with Wood Floor Moldings

The same manufacturer, same product name and same SKU: When flooring manufacturers change production facilities and/or stain brands, the floor color can change, and matching moldings may now be outdated. Here original flooring that had been matched to the moldings is on the bottom and a newer piece of the same flooring is on top; moldings that were matched to the original samples will no longer match.

When you're dealing with a big wood flooring job, it's easy to overlook a piece of trim or molding that didn't get ordered. Unfortunately, payment on the job can be held up by one piece of T-mold. Now you're in a rush because you may have to wait for two weeks on a special order piece of molding. Sound familiar? I have a saying I like to use in our industry:  "Don't shoot the molding guy!" Of course I say that, because I am the molding guy, but it isn't usually my fault! Here are some things to keep in mind about trim and moldings that can make your wood flooring jobs go more smoothly.
