This issue's tip comes from Jim Hyde at Oldschool Hardwood Floors LLC in Marmora, N.J.

My right-hand grip—my mallet hand—is not what it used to be due to two herniated discs in my neck, and my mallet kept flying out of my hand. My first thought was duct-taping my hand to my mallet, but that would have been a problem if I got an itch on my nose and forgot it was there! I had this old ash kids-sized baseball bat in my shed and modified it for my mallet. It's slightly long, too, so I don't have to bend over as far.
