People's natural affinity for wood is evident in the emotional attachment they have to old wood floors, whether they are a circle from the original Opryland stage or a small piece of a famous university's basketball floor used a fundraiser. In this latest story, Cathedral Carmel School, a Catholic school in Lafayette, La., dedicated its new gym floor to former basketball coach Gale Breaux. Breaux, the eight-time district coach of the year, was given a plaque crafted from pieces of the original wood court and signed by roughly 50 former players.
