Last fall, an engineered wood flooring company in Malaysia introduced "Ionwood," which it claimed can "recharge the body, boost [the] immune system, reduce stress, provide peace of mind and improve blood circulation to the body"-all thanks to the presence of negative ions. Now, Lauzon has debuted Pure Genius, a floor the Quebec-based company says "improves indoor air quality" by breaking down airborne toxins, including formaldehyde.
Here's how it works: Pure Genius is an air-purifying agent made of titanium dioxide that is integrated into Lauzon's Titanium floor finish. Activated by natural and artificial light, it breaks down toxic contaminants on contact, transforming them into harmless molecules. Lauzon says its constant and consistent action is so effective over time that Pure Genius eventually will make indoor air up to 85 percent cleaner. Further, the company says that third-party scientific laboratory tests have shown that Pure Genius has the equivalent purifying effect of one full-grown deciduous tree for every 454 square feet of flooring.
Two new flooring series, Organik and Authentik, are each made standard with Pure Genius, and several products in Lauzon's Designer and Ambiance Collections also are available with Pure Genius.
