Armstrong World Industries (Lancaster, Pa.) made $30.3 million in profits the third quarter 2015 compared with $46.7 million in the third quarter of 2014, a decrease of 35.1 percent the company said was due to foreign exchange rate losses.
The company’s net sales decreased 3 percent to $658.5 million in the third quarter of 2015 versus $678.9 million during the same period in 2014.
The wood flooring segment’s sales decreased 4.7 percent to $130.5 million in the third quarter, compared with $137 million in the same period last year. Operating income, however, increased to $10.4 million in the third quarter of 2015 from $2 million in the same period last year.
The only business segment to see an increase in net sales was resilient flooring, which registered $192.1 million in the third quarter of 2015 versus $190.2 million in the third quarter of 2014.
