Illinois came in first for the most LEED square footage per capita in 2015, 3.4. It was followed by Maryland (3.1) and Massachusetts (3.0).
California ranked first when considering total square footage, with 87.3 million square feet of LEED-certified space. Texas was second with 52.4 million square feet, followed by Illinois with 43.9 million square feet.
For total number of projects certified in 2015, California ranked first with 618, followed by Texas (237) and Illinois (161).
