Myanmar may begin importing wood as a way to save its forests, according to Fordaq.
Importing wood versus using the country’s own stock will help conserve Myanmar’s forest resources while allowing local industries reliant on raw wood to continue manufacturing goods, according to Fordaq.
Myanmar stopped exporting timber in 2014 and recently banned logging in the country altogether. Both moves were made to reduce illegal logging.
