Mullican Flooring (Johnson City, Tenn.) will invest $15 million to expand its operational footprint over the next five years, according to a statement from the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development.
Mullican will acquire a 126,000-square-foot facility in Johnson City that will be used to store materials and finished products. The warehouse will free up space at the company’s manufacturing plant, which will allow it to expand production capacity. It will hire 50–80 new employees during the next year and, in five years, will create 200 jobs.
“Mullican Flooring is one of Tennessee’s homegrown success stories and I applaud them for their commitment to provide another 200 jobs for Johnson City and Washington County residents,” said Gov. Bill Haslam in a statement. “Mullican Flooring’s decision to invest further in Washington County brings us another step closer to our goal to make Tennessee the No. 1 location in the Southeast for high-quality jobs.”
The expansion will take place on land purchased by Washington County Industrial Development Board for $1.2 million appropriated by the city and county governments. The IDB will lease the property to Mullican for 15 years.
This is the fourth growth initiative in 16 years for the company in Johnson City.
