Eugene Klotz, founder of Renaissance Floor Inlays and 10-time Wood Floor of the Year Award winner, has been fighting lung cancer since being diagnosed in June.
The cancer had infected Klotz’s lungs, adrenal glands and cerebellum. A GoFundMe page was started by his son, Charlie, to help pay for the treatments and surgeries.
Klotz, 60, is undergoing treatment in his home country, Poland, where he moved his flooring company in 2008. Doctors have already successfully removed the cancer in Klotz’ cerebellum, according to updates on the GoFundMe page, and he recently underwent a week’s worth of radiation therapy.
Klotz has worked in the wood flooring industry for 27 years. Klotz won his first Wood Floor of the Year award in 1991. He went on to win in 1992, 1994, two awards in 1995 and 1996, 1997 and two awards in 2001. He has inspired countless industry professionals, including past Wood Floor of the Year Award winners, with his design and installation skills. Klotz also taught at National Wood Flooring Association training schools.
