Armstrong Hardwood Flooring (Lancaster, Pa.) will host students at five of its facilities throughout October as part of Manufacturing Day.
Students will tour plants and participate in other activities and presentations.
“Manufacturing today is technologically advanced and offers exciting career opportunities,” said Don Maier, Armstrong Flooring CEO, in a statement. “This is an important step in engaging with the next generation who will drive our economy and future innovations.”
The dates are:
Oct. 4 in Lancaster: Students from Pequea Valley Intermediate School will conduct experiments and learn about science and engineering jobs in manufacturing.
Oct. 5 in South Gate, Calif.: Students from local vocational schools and colleges will go on tours to learn how commercial and residential flooring is manufactured.
Oct. 6 in Elkins, W. Va.: Employees from the facility in Beverly, W. Va., will staff an informational booth in the Mountain State Forest Festival Forestry and Wood Products Exhibit.
Oct. 13 in Kankakee, Ill.: Several groups from welding classes at Kankakee Area Career Center will tour the tile plant.
Oct. 24 in Stillwater, Okla.: High school students will tour the resilient sheet flooring plant and partake in a panel discussion.
