EU Tropical Log Imports Fall Nearly 30 Percent in 2017

European Union tropical log imports decreased 28 percent to 90,400 cubic meters between January and September 2017 compared with the same period in 2016, according to Fordaq.

The largest drops in imports came from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, which fell 50 percent to 13,500 cubic meters between January and September 2017 compared with the same period of 2016. Following the DRC is a 44 percent decrease, down to 9,800 cubic meters, from the Central African Republic; a 31 percent drop to 18,500 cubic meters from Cameroon; and a 29 percent drop to 22,700 from Congo.
