Construction spending increased 1.8 percent in April, growing to $1.31 billion from March’s revised $1.28 billion, and is up 7.6 percent compared with April 2017, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.
Total residential construction spending grew 4.4 percent to $563 million, and nonresidential remained virtually unchanged at $746 million. Total private construction spending saw a 2.8 percent increase, and public construction spending dropped 1.3 percent.
