Total construction spending increased 0.4 percent in May, growing to $1.309 million from $1.304 million in April, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.
Total spending remains 4.5 percent above May 2017 spending.
Residential construction saw an overall 0.8 percent increase compared with April, as overall nonresidential spending increased 0.1 percent.
Spending for total private construction in May increased 0.3 percent, and public construction grew 0.7 percent compared with April.
