Armstrong Flooring (Lancaster, Pa.) hit a company milestone after recycling more than 100 million pounds of flooring materials through its On&On recycling program.
Since beginning the program in 2009, the company said it has managed to keep 50,000 tons of post-consumer flooring materials out of landfills.
“Sustainable consumption and production is about promoting resource and energy efficiency and that is exactly what our On&On Recycling Program does,” Armstrong Sustainability Manager Amy Costello said in a statement.
The program also focuses efforts to save water and energy in the company, and so far has saved 1.3 billion gallons of water, eliminated 44 million kg of greenhouse gases and saved 154 million kWh of energy, enough to power 12,000 homes for a year.
