New single family home sales fell 5.5 percent during September to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 553,000, according to the U.S. Census Bureau and U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
The rate is 13.2 percent below September 2017’s new home sales rate of 637,000.
The median price of new homes sold during the month was $320,000, with the average sales price registering at $377,200.
The inventory of new houses on the market was 327,000 at the end of September, representing a supply of 7.1 months at the current sales rate.
