Shaw Industries (Dalton, Ga.) was recognized by the Academy of Interactive and Visual Arts (AIVA) for its new web-based acoustics tool, Sound Advisor. Sound Advisor demonstrates the impact that flooring and underlayment selection, as well as ceiling and floor construction, have on a room’s acoustics. It does this by pairing a sound file of an actual, controlled impact insulation class (IIC) lab test with the users’ selected specifications with the IIC rating and data.
