Single-family starts fell 1.9% month-over-month and 6.7% year-over-year to a seasonally adjusted 882,000 homes, while multifamily starts dropped 40.2% from April and 14.2% year-over-year for an annualized rate of 295,000 units.

Builder Confidence Below 40 for 14 Months Straight

Single-family home builder confidence fell two points to 35 in June, according to the National Association of Home Builders/Wells Fargo Housing Market Index, marking the 14th consecutive month that sentiment has been below 40, a streak not seen since the foreclosure crisis in 2011–2012.
