AHF Products to Use HDF Core for Entire Line of Domestic Engineered Products

12 16 Ahf DensitekAHF Products (Mountville, Pa.) announced it will begin using Densitek cores in all of its domestically produced engineered hardwood flooring.

Densitek is an HDF core that the company says will provide improved dent resistance because it is denser and less porous than solid wood or traditional plywood cores. It is 33% harder and 50% more water resistant than a traditional plywood core, according to AHF Products.

“Since no acclimation is needed, the floors can be installed anywhere in the home, above or below grade,” the company stated. “In addition, higher utilization of harvested timber in the manufacturing process translates to a lower impact on the environment.”

The new cores will not change the flooring’s visuals or textures, the company said.

“We look at flooring from the consumer’s perspective to identify clear problems to solve,” AHF Products COO Mike Bell said in a statement. “It’s really all about performance.”

The company expects the conversion to Densitek cores for of all its domestic engineered hardwood products, which include Bruce, Hartco, Capella and Robbins, will be completed by March 2020.
