Wood flooring consumption in Europe decreased during the first three quarters of 2024, according to the European Parquet Federation.
The wood flooring markets fell in almost all FEP countries during 2024 compared with the first three quarters of 2023 due to subdued activity in the construction sector.
“As consumers’ purchasing power has been hit, cheaper alternatives such as fake wood floorings are now more frequently considered as well as unfairly-priced parquet from Chinese origin,” according to FEP.
Regionally, Austria experienced a decline of 5% in its wood flooring consumption, France’s consumption fell by 13–15%, and Germany and Italy’s consumption fell by 5–10%.
