China will begin accepting applications for tariff exemptions on some imported U.S. products, China’s Ministry of Finance announced Feb. 18.
U.S. companies are not eligible to submit exemption requests; they must be submitted by Chinese domestic firms, according to the Hardwood Federation. China will begin accepting applications for one-year waivers March 2.
“It is important that U.S. hardwood exporters communicate with their Chinese customers in order to encourage as many Chinese entities as possible to push for tariff exclusions on U.S. hardwood,” the Hardwood Federation stated.
The U.S. began accepting tariff exemption applications from U.S. companies last summer.
