Since the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR) opened an appeals process June 30 for exemption from the 25% tariffs on $200 billion worth of Chinese products, it has received more than 31,000 exemption requests from companies, The Wall Street Journal reports.
The USTR has ruled on 439 of those requests so far and has denied 86% of them.
The tariffs on Chinese products, which include hardwood flooring, were scheduled to increase from 25% to 30% Oct. 15, but that increase has since been delayed by President Trump.
