Uzin Utz North America Inc. hosted a ground breaking event for a new 125,000 square-foot dry mortar facility in Waco, Texas.
The facility will produce self-leveling compounds, patches, thin sets, grouts, and other product categories in the future. It will also be the location of the new Uzin Utz North America training center and the central location for research and development.
The location represents an investment of more than $34 million, the company said, and will create 40 new jobs. It is planned to be operational by mid-2022.
The Waco building is the third location in North America for Uzin Utz, which also has a manufacturing facility in Dover, Del., and a distribution facility in Aurora, Colo.
“This project is a testament to the efforts of our employees in North America, customer acceptance of our brands, and strong innovation and technology of our products and services," said Philipp Utz, executive board member of Uzin Utz AG, in a statement. “We can proudly say today that the decision to continue to invest in the North American flooring market has paid off, we will continue to invest strategically as needed to gain market share.”
The company also has manufacturing facilities in Germany, the Netherlands, France, Poland, Switzerland, Slovenia, Indonesia and China.
