Don ConnerDon Conner passed away in 2022 after a lifetime in the wood flooring industry.ManagementDon Conner Shares Wisdom After a Lifetime in the Wood Flooring IndustryI grew up in the family floor covering business and was fortunate enough to end up in the wood flooring industry for my whole career. After running my own business for awhile, by the ripe age of 28 I had to get off my knees, so I got a job selling factory-finished floating flooring for Harris-Tarkett. Floating floors were brand new then; I had to find distribution with a company nobody knew with a product they didn't believe in and from somebody they didn't know … but it ended up working out, to say the least. I've traveled all over the world and made a career out of getting paid to do something I loved like a hobby. Over the years I've learned that one of the only constants in our industry is change (although people might say my bad jokes are one thing that never seem to change). I've also learned to choose my words carefully, to the point where I've had people call some of my sayings "Donisms." Here are some words I've heard a lot and given a lot of thought to over the years in this business. What do you get when you have a room full of people from [insert state name here]? Chances of an accurate inspection increase when everyone fully cooperates with the inspector. —D.C.March 31, 2009TechniquesThree Factors that Could Save Your Wood Floor InstallationNovember 30, 2007MoistureCutting Air Movement From Wood Floors Causes ProblemsDecember 31, 2000Page 1 of 1Top StoriesDesignCraftsmanship Across the Globe: Introducing the Winners of the 2024 WFB Design AwardsHailing everywhere from Italy to Portugal to Cincinnati to Washington, D.C., to Brazil to Chicago (by way of Poland), the recipients of this year’s WFB Design Awards prove, through sweat and creativity, that true craftsmanship has no borders.Machines/ToolsMeet the Repairman Turning Edgers Into ArtworkContractingWhat’s Your Top Advice for When Things Get Slow?DesignWhite Oak vs. Red Oak: As Pressure Increases on White Oak, Red Oak Is a Versatile AlternativeSponsor ContentBona Traffic HD RAW® Damage Mitigation
