
Way back in 1935-with the Great Depression still lingering-distributor Derr Flooring (then Derr Gibbons Supply Co.) employed just five people, operated out of a small warehouse, and serviced only Philadelphia and its close suburbs. But Derr worked to get its name out there, and one way was attending this trade show put on by the Eastern Building Materials Dealers Association (which is still around today). In the photo is essentially Derr's whole product line at the time: oak flooring, nails and floor finish. Today, however, the company offers literally tens of thousands of SKUs and services regions from New York City to Richmond, Va.
