"The richness of an Oak floor in the dining room contributes to a sense of wellbeing and enjoyment." So says to the ninth edition of "The Story of Oak Floors," which was published in February 1924 by the Chicago-based Oak Flooring Bureau. Even though the writing is a little fluffy, the marketing angles presented in this booklet are actually timeless. Elsewhere, the booklet asks, "Why cover our floors with any temporary artificial material, when we can have Nature's permanent floors of Oak?" And finally, "Character is inherent in Oak, contributing to the dignity of interior appointments."
