Locked smartphonePull out your smartphone. Turn it on and open your email. Easy enough, right? Well, the same can be said for any snoop that picks up your smartphone. In the interest of protecting you and your business, here are some smartphone security tips:

  1. Enable a screen lock feature on your phone. This could be one of a few options, like requiring a password, pass-number or a set of keystrokes to unlock your phone.
  2. Install an app like Find My iPhone or Lookout (Android) that can help locate and/or erase data from a stolen phone.
  3. Stay away from geotagging features (prevalent in most photo apps) to make it tougher for criminals to know your whereabouts.

And easiest of all: Don't lose your phone!
