"Choose a job you love and you will never work a day in your life"—words from my father and countless others. My father and I had always been woodworkers; since I was six years old I worked with him in his shop. It was always just a hobby until I had the opportunity to help someone who was putting in a wood floor, and it was the neatest thing. I made a huge career change in my late 30s to be a wood flooring pro, leaving behind a very successful and profitable career, with the full support of my wonderful wife, and I couldn't be happier. It is so rewarding—I literally, even on the toughest days, love what I do. Now I teach my four boys the same thing. I don't care if you're a garbage man, a mailman … you have to love what you do. The pride and joy my work gives me has proven to be not only profitable, but rewarding in more ways than I could have imagined. Enjoy the journey.
