Owner and operator of Baltimore-based Matt’s Professional Flooring, Matt Parker, learned everything he knows about hardwood floor refinishing and installation from his dad. One thing he didn’t pick up from the 50-year wood floor veteran, though, was how to quickly and easily build up online customer reviews. “I ask probably 95 percent of my clients to leave a review,” Parker says. “I send a link to their phone, and they can go and just leave it.” The easiest way Parker has found to collect reviews is by keeping the link to his Google Business page in the Notes app on his phone. Then, once he finishes a job, he immediately emails or texts the link to the client. This simple strategy has allowed Parker’s four-person operation to surpass much larger competitors in number of Google reviews and star-ratings. Currently, Matt’s Professional Flooring has a perfect 5.0 rating from 103 Google reviews, many of which he showcases on his website. And he emphasizes that good reviews can even come from jobs where something came up that had to be fixed: “Give a great experience. If you did a good job, anything that comes up should be very fixable.”
