As long, wide-width floors spread across the U.S., the wood floors in Belgium appear to be trending in the opposite direction. “The trend that I see here in Belgium is that people are opting for patterned floors with or without borders,” says Che Polfliet of Lauwe, Belgium-based C-Parket. The trend has been growing for the past three years and has displaced long, wide plank floors in the country—a displacement Polfliet is pleased to see: “I think this is due to an aspiration of architects and floor installers who want to get themselves to a higher level every day.”
