Herringbone wood flooring is in the midst of a “renaissance” in Oslo, Norway, says Thomas Kahlbom of Oslo-based Kahlbom & Co As. Its growing popularity parallels a resurgence of darker flooring tones in Scandinavia, where white-pigmented floor planks have long been the standard. “For me, matching the floor aesthetically with the architectural expression and era is important,” Kahlbom says. “Most of the buildings in our area are from 1800 to 1950, so classical, sharp-edge herringbone fits perfectly.”
