Trick of the Trade: Tricky Ventilation

Hf 0407 47 Toft

For most finishes, you don't want air movement while you're applying, but you do want it after the finish is skinned over. Turning on fans at doorways or windows to help draw solvents out of the just-finished room is a good idea, but sometimes you can't turn them on because you'd have to walk on your new finish. This little contraption, available at most hardware stores, solves that problem. Plug the fan into it, and you can turn the fan on and off with a remote control to draw the solvents out and keep your finish pristine.

Thanks to G. Brent Sorbet for his tip.
