Finish repairs always take a certain amount of skill and patience. When doing a repair on a poly floor, one challenge is how to get the new poly to match the floor’s existing poly, which has ambered over time. Customers don’t like to be told to just wait until the new poly “catches up” and blends in. One trick is to articifically age the new poly before applying it. One technique is to put the poly in a hot spot, such as in a sunny window or the dash of your van. The heat will amber the finish, making a better match with the existing finish already on the floor.
