Kent Bedke likes to use microfiber cloths for tacking floors because of their grab, so he created this device, which he appropriately dubbed the "Handy Happy Tacker." He used a dovetail router bit to make the slot, covered the slot with the microfiber towel, inserted a piece of spline and twisted it to lock it in. When one part of the cloth gets dirty, he simply rolls it to a clean part; there are three clean parts available on each side of the cloth. Now, he says, his tacking is easier and his floors are cleaner, creating a better job.
Thanks to Kent Bedke of Skamokawa, Wash.-based BDK Hardwood Flooring for his tip. Do you have a Trick of the Trade to share? Email it to WFB.
