There are many factors that go into a good finish job, and one of them that's easily overlooked is the surface temperature of the floor. A floor that's too hot or too cold is a recipe for problems, but how do you know for sure? Surface thermometers (one style is shown here; there are different types) will give you a true reading of the floor, and your finish manufacturer can give you a go/no-go range for whether it's safe to coat over a hot spot like the one here.
