Matt Pope of Marietta, Ga.-based Pope Hardwood Flooring Inc. started to see wide plank oak floors on the rise in the Atlanta market in 2011. By 2014, livesawn character-grade wide plank flooring became his company's biggest seller and remains so today. "I would say 50% or more of our clients prefer the wide plank, livesawn character-grade white oak flooring," Pope says. "With the livesawn character grade, you get the face of the knotholes and the beautiful grain striations that come with them; we also get a lot longer lengths with the character grade material."
